Our Stand-up MRI*

We believe our patients deserve the best. We talk a lot about our stand-up MRI machine because it is such an important diagnostic tool. Why? It helps us see the best image of your spine from multiple positions. Following are just a few reasons why we think this tool is important.

Additional Benefits:
  • A more accurate diagnosis. Many back problems can be missed when the spine is not bearing the weight of the body and not imaged in the positions the spine normally occupies.
  • Symptom-specific scanning. Advanced design allows us to scan our patients in the positions they experience their problems—sitting, standing, bending, leaning, as well as lying down.
  • Superior comfort. Our patients are not slid into the traditional clastriphobic tube.
  • Easy scans for children. They can simply sit on a parent's lap, and they avoid radiation exposure from X-rays
  • Radiation-free scanning for scoliosis patients. Overexposure to spine x-rays may significantly increase breast cancer risk. This is a radiation-free alternative for patients that need multiple images in a year.
  • No magnets impair your view. You can read a book while you have your MRI.

The Stand-up Difference
This patient's spinal instability was missed with a recumbent MRI (left) but shows up in a stand-up MRI.
